Wayne Dyer talks about Aurora, Colorado and Guns

Wayne Dyer talked a little about guns and the recent shooting in Colorado in a recent radio show with Hay House Radio. Here is a little bit of what he said (paraphrased a little bit for clarity)

I would like to say a few words about the tragedy in Aurora, CO and the insanity of it all. I always think about how good our politicians are - all of them from the president and the people running for president and the congressmen and so on - on how good they are at offering their condolences and saying that you're in our prayers and after awhile you almost get almost tired of them are coming out of saying the same thing over and over again.

I just really want to hear these people be asked the question what is it that you were going to do about this now?

This man was able to legally go out and purchase an army of weapons legally. So how do we as a government - which is supposed to be protecting our people - what are we going to do to make sure that this doesn't happen again?

This used to be a rare thing that someone would flip out and have one of these massacres. Now it seems like it's every two or three weeks at least and it's just becoming commonplace. We now have a gun for every person in the United States. That's 300 million guns in the United States.

And I don't hear anybody coming out and saying "why is it necessary for people to go out and buy magazines that you hundred rounds with the flick of a finger?" and "why do we need assault weapons" "Why does anybody, any place, need to be out there and buying these kinds of things?" The gun industry is an industry of hatred. These are designed to kill and I always ask the question in my audiences and sometimes it's not so popular but it doesn't make any difference to me. Which country would you rather live in? A country where everybody has a gun or a country where nobody has a gun? And which are you working towards?

I heard of several congressmen standing up and saying it if somebody in the theater and had a gun - a concealed weapon - then they would've been able to stop this madness much quicker. Is that the country that we want to live in? A country where everybody goes into a movie theater and then we sit there knowing that everybody in this room has a concealed weapon? And then somebody stands up to get popcorn or talks too loud and you just turn around a blow them away? So many people have anger management issues.

So, I just don't know why we can't have legislators get up there and say we don't need to have assault weapons would not only going to control them. Let's just stop manufacturing them. Let's stop this whole business of exporting hatred especially to the masses. And all this under the rubric of the 2nd amendment rights.

New book from Wayne Dyer's brother David

Wayne Dyer's brother David has a new book out called "From Darkness to Light" in which he writes about stories of his life, including memories of his childhood with Wayne. Here is a the description:

David L. Dyer, brother to world-renowned motivational speaker Dr. Wayne Dyer, has his own inspirational story to share. It took David sixty-eight years and the life-altering diagnosis of Parkinson's disease to truly grasp the signifi cance of his brother's famous mantra, 'Do not die with your music still in you'. Once he did, however, he was able to use his gift of language-a long-suppressed talent-to confront the demons that have haunted him for decades. In his memoir, From Darkness to Light, David recalls stories of his life, from his earliest memories to his most recent years. He recounts childhood memories of playing with Wayne, two years his junior; going into foster care after his father abandoned his family; facing bullies and teasing; and struggling to learn to swim. As he grew older and drifted away from his close friendship with Wayne, David turned to partying and alcohol-and the latter would stay with him for years. He later joined the army and found himself serving in Vietnam, where he witnessed horrific events that would aff ect him for decades to come. From Darkness to Light takes a cathartic journey through the events of one man's life, following him up to the present. It celebrates the bond of brotherhood, and it embraces David as a boy, as a veteran, and as the man he is today.
